The Summit Garage Bowling League has been restructured for the new season which commences on Monday 15th April. Five new clubs namely Castlefields, Ward End Cons, Highley Miners Welfare, Royal Oak & Selly Park �B� have successfully been admitted to the league taking the membership up to 40 teams.
The new structure unanimously voted in by the clubs will see a Premier Division, two feeder divisions & a division two in operation for the 2013 season. The winners of each feeder division will be promoted to the Elite Premier Division with the bottom two in the Premier relegated into the feeder system. The top four in Division Two will be promoted into the feeder system with the bottom two in each feeder league relegated into division two. Total Prize Money for 2013 being �7,500.
The league scoring system has also been amended. All individual home winners will now record one point with away winners picking up 1.5 points for their efforts. These points being added to the points for the aggregate win.
Allan Gaut (Wrockwardine Wood) was elected on to the Executive Committee replacing Mark Hall who stepped down due to business & family commitments. The other members of the Executive Committee where re elected namely John & Nick Newey, Mel Evans, Martin McGuinness, Paul Hickman, Lynn Pritchatt & Alan Bentley.
League Secretary Mel Evans said �We are overwhelmed by the success of the Summit Garage League which has grown from 10 to 40 teams in just seven seasons. Our ambition back in 2006 was to form a league of the highest quality to improve the standard of bowls in the area. Judging from the teams involved and its popularity we have achieved our goal�
