The Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League had five of the eight qualifiers from the St Georges Open last weekend, and two of the other three have played in the league before! Willenhall Nordley dominated with three of the qualifiers, lead by 2016 Premier League Averages Winner Scott Simpson. He beat Martin Jones 8 to qualify. Dan Bodley qualified earlier that afternoon, beating locals Castlefields’ Andy Duckett and Derek Wright before getting past Three Magpies’ Adam Kirby 19. Paul Evans completed the trio, enjoying a fine win over Glynn Cookson 16 to get through. Steve Bodley narrowly lost out on becoming the fourth member through, but lost to Three Magpies’ Glen Herbert 14 in his qualifier. Castlefields’ Callum Wraight, previous Averages winner in the Feeder League, also qualified, beating Netherseal’s James Southern 12 in his final game.
Peter Farmer is a former Chadsmoor player and qualified, so did Jon Palmer who played for Kings Heath Park when they were in the league.
