West Brom & St Georges Open Weekend Previews

The West Brom Open takes place this weekend with another 8 spots up for grabs. The current champion Ben Percival aims to retain his crown and takes on Dave Burton from Shropshire first game. He has a tough half with former winners Kez Smith and Russ Pegram in there, along with North Midland stars Paul Lamb and Steve Pratt, the latter playing Kez first game. Current Junior All England Winner Luke Hall takes part, having caused a stir here last year by beating Dave McDermott, along with Mark Burdett and Pete Grimston. In the afternoon and former Midland Masters winner Gary Owen competes as well as his Dad Phil, along with Mick Ledwidge and Mark Denman. Onto Sunday and Kevan Shaw against Graeme Wilson looks the 1st round tie of the weekend, but rising Warwick and Worcester star Adam Patrick also features. Florence bowlers Jon Price and Aaron Steele also make the trip down. The afternoon session features Warwick and Worcester county players Simon Trentham and Jason McLoughlin, who could meet second round. Cliff Johnson and Mark Taylor both qualified last year, and Spencer Clarke is a former finalist.
