Three of our teams head to BCGBA World Club Championships Finals

The Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League have three former winners at the 2018 BCGBA World Club Championship Finals tomorrow. Reigning holders King George V will aim to retain their trophy and face Holme first of all from Cumbria on the number 2 green. Captain Tom Pritchard admits “Holme are an unknown quantity to us and we shall be giving them all the respect a team that has qualified for finals day deserve. We weren’t favourites to win it last year, and won’t be this year either. But just as last year, we will come up in the minibus from Brum, give it everything we have as a team and see where it takes us.” Fellow Warwick & Worcester team The George have also won this trophy back in 1998 under its previous guise, and face 2016 winners Parkfield Labour Club on the number one green in a very tough opener. Skipper Elliot McGuinness knows “we are up against it playing against a class team, but we feel there’s a couple of positions we can expose. David Watters can’t play pairs all year and have the ringers really got the team spirit required?” Former three time winners Castlefields aim for their fourth win but face a tough first clash against 2015 winners Thongsbridge on the number 2 green. Captain Mike Beer admits “I know their team and we expect to face a team of county players so it will be very tough. However I feel we are in some good form at the moment and have a chance of upsetting the odds. We have a full strength squad.”

The Summit Garage and the League would like to wish all three teams the very best of luck.

Finals Day Draw

No.1 Green Parkfield Labour Club v The George , Haunchwood v Castle S & SC.
