Wrockwardine Wood Whitewash, Derbyshire Draw
Wrockwardine Wood earned a whitewash over Short Heath Libs in Gameweek 3 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League, delighting skipper Martin Gaut. “It was a fantastic performance and a bit unexpected to be fair after struggling at home the week before. It was excellent, great performances across the board. Josh had a big win (21-6 to be best winner and MVP) and he performed superbly. Aaron deserves a mention too for on how he did.” Aaron’s opponent Craig Barker got MVP for getting 19. There was a rare draw in the first ever Derbyshire meeting between Netherseal and Stretton Anglesey, which was even stranger given that Stretton had 6 winners! Captain Paul Chamberlain knew “it would be close but perhaps not that close! Got to be happy with 8 points away from home. A few close ones went our way which always make a big difference!” Ian Brown was best winner 13 with John Dewey getting MVP for his 19 win. Brian Jordan was best winner for the home side 10 with other winner Dan Petcher getting MVP for winning 13.
Willenhall Nordley B followed up their good start by beating Baldwin 9-1 at home. Wayne Jones and Mark Hall were both best winners 9, but Ian Whitehouse got MVP for his 17 win. The visitor’s solitary win was Paul Whitcombe 8 which earned him MVP also. Sutton Park also won 9-1 against Broomfield, with Daniel Green the best winner and MVP 12, while Joe Wilson earned the same for his 18 win. Woodfield remain top after defeating Langley 8-2 with captain Nick Newey leading the way with his 6 win to also earn MVP. Paul Rolls was best winner for the visitors winning 14 but Mark Nemedi got MVP for his 18 win.
Woodfield are top by 5 points to Willenhall Nordley B, while Short Heath Libs are bottom by 3 points but have a game in hand tomorrow evening.
