Gameweek 4 Review – Premier Division

Dudley Dell bounce back, Moor Lane earn great home win

Dudley Dell bounced back in style in Gameweek 4 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League as they won at Willenhall Nordley to kickstart their season. They had 4 winners with the aggregate to delight captain Nick Wyer. “We started the game well being 12 up off 4 and with 2 winners in back 4 we held on comfortably. It was a great team win for us as it’s first time we was able to get our strongest team out this season. Their green wasn’t great and was almost unplayable speed wise which helped us more than them.” Jamie Wyer and Craig Cartwright took advantage of those difficult conditions to win 9, with Craig getting MVP, while Ant Bracken won 10 for the home side to earn MVP and best win. Moor Lane beat King George V 9-1 to continue their good start to the season. They had three 21-8 winners as their best, Kirk Stevens, Paul Patrick and Bob Hickman, with the latter earning MVP. Captain Jason Galvin was the only winner for the visitors 21-10 to earn MVP.

The George had a very good result against the Greville Arms, with new signing Greg Smith winning on his debut. But it was Phil Clinton and Marc Wilson who were best winners 8, with Marc getting the MVP award. Peter Dunkley was the best of the two winners 21-13, which earned him MVP too. M&B Cheslyn Hay will be happy with their 3 winners at Tanworth In Arden, with Jordan Picken starring in her first appearance of the season. She was best winner 14 to be MVP. Willie Jeynes was best winner and MVP for the home side, winning 3. St Georges will also be happy with 3 winners at West Brom FSC, with another woman starring on her first appearance this season. Sonya Lucas won 8 to be best winner and MVP, while Nick Brookes was best winner and MVP for West Brom with his 6 win.

West Brom FSC are top of the league by a point to Willenhall Nordley. Despite their away win, Dudley Dell are bottom by two points to King George V. Elliot McGuinness is top of the League Averages, with just three others 4 out of 4.
