Gameweek 5 Review – Premier Division

George earn away win, Greville tame the Dragon and the Weather!

The George earned their first away win of the season as they won at King George V with 4 winners in Gameweek 5 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Elliot McGuinness said it was a “great result against a class side. I’m happy with the way we’ve stared life back in the Premier League. Hopefully we can build on the game with a positive home result and then look to pick up another couple of away wins.” New signing Greg Smith led the way winning 10, but Marc Wilson got MVP for getting 20 off Paul Lamb. Tom Pritchard’s best win of 11 was enough to earn MVP but not to win the aggregate. The Greville Arms shrugged off the rain to earn 4 winners at St Georges. Skipper Andy Nuttall said “having left Birmingham at 27 degrees we arrive at St Georges to rain and 15 degrees. We had 5 regulars out of the Greville team but saw a great team spirit battle to get 4 valuable points. Well played as always to St. Georges.” Andy himself was best winner 13 while Lee Kington got MVP for winning 18. Clay Flattley’s best win of 3 was enough to earn him MVP and St Georges the aggregate.

Dudley Dell continued their resurgence with a 7-3 home win over M&B Cheslyn Hay. They had two single figure winners, Nathan Dawes 5 and Steve Shaw 6, with Steve earning MVP. Young gun Reece Farr won 16 to be best winner and MVP for M&B, who will be happy with their 3 winners there. West Brom FSC earned another good home win with a 8-2 success over Tanworth In Arden. Andy Saunders was best winner 10, with Rob Carter getting MVP for his 15 win. Neil Clarke was best winner and MVP for the visitors by winning 10. Moor Lane will be happy with their 3 winners at Willenhall Nordley as they continue their good start to the season. Adam Patrick was best winner 14 but it was Kirk Stevens who got MVP for his 17 win. For the home side it was Ross Edwards who was best winner 8 and Mark Picknell MVP for winning 18.

West Brom FSC are top by 2 points to Willenhall Nordley. Only one point separate the bottom 5 sides, with Tanworth In Arden and King George V joint bottom. Elliot McGuinness and Rob Carter are both 5 out of 5, with Elliot top on aggregate.
