The Moor Lane Open has some big names in the field in the annual Bank Holiday competition. Holder Greg Smith of the George features in the tie of the 1st round, playing new team mate Ryan Prosser. The last time these met in competition was the last Bank Holiday when Ryan beat Greg at the Haunchwood Open. Willenhall Nordley’s Scott Simpson also features in that bottom quarter playing Mark Denman, with another Staffordshire county player Aaron Tapper of M&B Cheslyn Hay featuring against Ward End Cons’ Adam Weaver. M&B Cheslyn Hay’s Jack Hill and Rob Carter of WBFSC is the other tie in that quarter at the bottom of the draw. Tom Pritchard from King George V is a former finalist and plays James Seville of Moseley CC, with James’ team mate Gavin Dunkley taking on Paul Copson at the top of the draw. Dan Bodley from Willenhall Nordley also features at the top, playing Steve Jones, with his team mate Kevin Hocknull also up there, playing Three Magpies’ Glen Herbert. The other game there features Andy Gibbs against Callum Mitchell. Dudley Dell’s Nathan Dawes plays Matthew Bates, and young gun and new M&B signing Reece Farr plays Darren Fielding. George players Russ Prosser and Paul Hemming play Kirk Wright and Ward End Cons’ John Evans, while Penn’s James Duce takes on KGV’s Simon Fisher. The other ties feature Nigel Egan against James Cosgrave and Simon Green playing Tony Maritza.
Players 1-16 need to be there for 10 and 17-32 for 11.
