M&B edge out Dell, Greville grind it out
M&B Cheslyn Hay and Dudley Dell played out a thriller in Gameweek 6 of the Summit Garage Premier Bowling League as the home side edged the game 6-4 and by 3 chalks. Home captain Steve Davis explained how the match went, “we started well with the first three winners, best card being Reece Farr 21-10, so we were 21 up after 4. The Dell fought back with the next 3 winners, Simon Homer being the MVP and Peter Withey best winner 14. It left us 1 shot up with the last card 17 across. A real tussle to the last, and we won by 3 and 6-4.” Opposition captain Nick Wyer also explained how the game went through the night. “Green was sluggish and we had to attack even going down hill! After 4 ends we were 21 behind with only Jamie Wyer winning 19 in the front. In the back four and Simon Homer was brilliant against Gordon Hawkins and Jason Westwood was equally impressive in beating Neil Bromley. When Pete Withey come off winning against Jack hill we were 1 behind with just myself on green against Steve Davies, but unfortunately i dipped out 19 which meant we lost by 3. However it was a very good 4 points against a top side. Best match of night was Dave East against Nathan Dawes which earned Easty his MVP in winning 15.”
Greville also came out of a tight match by just 28, but still had 7 winners against St Georges. Skipper Andy Nuttall said it was “a great result that slightly flattered us. St Georges missing out on a couple of extra points by the Greville lads digging out wins that looked unlikely.” Carl Fielding won 10 to be best winner and MVP for the home side, while Clay Flattley was only winner for the Dragons 17 to be MVP too. The George are now top after beating King George V 9-1 to complete a couple of good weeks for them. Ryan Prosser was best winner 7 with Jacob Dancer MVP 13, while for King George V it was Tom Pritchard who managed to get a point, winning 12 and MVP, a result that leaves them bottom. Moor Lane will also be happy with their 8-2 win over Willenhall Nordley. Kirk Stevens and Adam Patrick were best winners 9, with the latter earning MVP. For Nordley, Scott Simpson won 15 and Dave Semper 16, with Dave getting the MVP award. West Brom FSC will be the happier of the two teams as they got 3 at Tanworth In Arden. Neil Clarke won MVP and best win for his 21-6 card for the home side, while Jason Cooke was best winner 8 and Kevin Hickman MVP for his 16 win for the visitors.
The George are top by 2 points to West Brom FSC, with King George V bottom by 4 to Dudley Dell. Elliot McGuinness is the only unbeaten player in the league with 6 out of 6.
