Royal Oak so close to away win, Ward End get fab four

Royal Oak were so close to gaining the first away win in Division 1 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League as they drew at Baddesley. Royal Oak skipper Mark Rose said “The Oak played well and the green was holding. Perhaps should of won the game but Tyler Dewis ran out from 16-15 down. Our star man was Stewart Meddings who won 8 (to be best winner and MVP).” Harry Chapman was best winner for the home side 12, while Jordan Baddeley was MVP for his 14 win, a result which still leaves them struggling at the bottom of the table. Ward End Cons gained a fab four at Castlefields to keep them above their opponents. They fought back from 3-1 down as Gary Weetman earned best win 6 and David Room earned MVP for winning 15. Keith Wall got MVP and best win for the Fields 7. Penn are still in 2nd place after gaining a good 3 at Moseley after some good comebacks by their winners. Gary Cooper was 12-1 down and won 20, James Duce ran out from 16-14 down to be best winner, and Rob Perry was 18-13 down and ran out too. But the two MVPs went to the players in the Bill Kinchin and Jason Groom game, which Bill edged 20. Scott Saunders got MVP for winning 8. Windmill have moved up to 3rd after beating Three Magpies 8-2, with their best winners being Glyn Storer, Phil Chester and Kevin Handley, all 10, but Mick Bardsley got MVP for winning 12. Michael Lynch won 11 and Gareth Herbert 15 for the Maggies, with Gareth gaining MVP. Great Barr have leaped above Chadsmoor after beating them 8-2. Andy Sprason was best winner 5, with Craig Dugdale MVP for winning 15. For their Staffordshire opponents, it was captain Kevin Keary who got MVP and best win, 13.

Royal Oak are top by 3 to Penn, while Baddesley are 4 adrift of Castlefields at the bottom. Glyn Storer, Kevin Handley and Gary Cooper are all 6 out of 6 still at the top of the League Averages.
