Stretton win away again, Wrockwardine whitewash again
Stretton Anglesey won away again at bottom placed Short Heath Libs to keep up their pursuit of table toppers Woodfield in Gameweek 7 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won 9-3 to please captain Paul Chamberlain. “The green was heavier than expected. I thought we did well to be 2-2 and level on the agg after the first four. Both their winners played very well. Couple of comfortable winners in second four secured the aggregate.” Ian Brown was best winner 9 with Ed Wallis getting MVP for his 14 win. Craig Barker was MVP and best winner for the home side, 7. Woodfield still remain unbeaten as they beat Sutton Park 8-2, captain Nick Newey leading the way with his 6 win, but Chris Marshman got MVP for winning 9. Matthew Danks was best card and MVP for the visitors, 21-8. Wrockwardine Wood earned another whitewash at home to keep up pace with the top two. Josh Cotton was best winner 7 with Louise Cotton MVP for her 21-19 win, and Langley’s Sarah Beaman got their MVP for getting 16. Netherseal also kept up their pursuit of the top two with a 9-1 win over Willenhall Nordley. Dan Petcher was best winner 4 and Andy Milson their MVP with his 18 win over local star Paul Bailey. Baldwin will be happy with their 3 at Broomfield in their best away result of the season. Jack Newsome was their best winner and MVP, 12, while for the home side it was Joe Wilson for best winner and Jon Blakeman MVP for their 10 and 11 wins respectively.
Woodfield lead by 6 to Stretton Anglesey, with Wrockwardine Wood a further 10 behind. Nick Newey still remains unbeaten out of the 7 games.
