Greville win away, Nordley back to form
The Greville Arms won their first away game of the season in Gameweek 9 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won 9-3 at King George V to move into third place in the table, just three points off top. Captain Andy Nuttall recognises that it is “an important win and 9 points on a difficult green. Greville battled well to get their 5 winners and we were unlucky not to get a 6th!” Josh Hale was best winner 9, with Carl Fielding getting MVP for his 12 win. For the home side it was Paul Lamb that was best winner and MVP 9. Willenhall Nordley are now top of the table after beating Tanworth In Arden 9-1. Scott Simpson though “thought it was always going to be a tough game as history tells you that Tanworth have won on ours or come close to, and always get a few winners. We played very well from the off with 3 halfway winners which just continued from there with our back four finishing them off. A much needed result which keeps us in the mix with tough fixtures coming up.” Paul Bailey was best winner and MVP for his 7 win, while for the visitors it was Dave Clarke who was their only winner 18 to get MVP.
West Brom FSC are in 2nd now after beating M&B Cheslyn Hay 6-4, who climb off bottom with a game in hand. Rob Carter was best winner 4, while Matt Hocknull was MVP for his 17 win. For the visitors, it was Steve Davis who got MVP and best win for his 12 card. The George also got 4 winners away from home at Moor Lane, despite being without Moor Lane Open winner Greg Smith. Ryan Prosser was their best winner and MVP for winning 12, with Adam Patrick likewise for the home side with his 8 victory. St Georges will be happy to reverse their home loss against Dudley Dell last season as they beat them 8-2. Lewis Scott put in a remarkable 21-2 win for the Dragons, to also win MVP, to be the best of the three single figure winners for them. Nathan Dawes was best winner for the Dell, his 8 win earning him MVP too.
Willenhall Nordley are top on aggregate to West Brom FSC, with the Greville Arms three points behind. At the bottom and King George V and M&B Cheslyn Hay are both on 34 points, 7 adrift of Dudley Dell and Tanworth In Arden, M&B having a game in hand on them both. Scott Simpson is now top of the League Averages on aggregate, after Elliot McGuinness didn’t play.
