Gameweek 10 Review – Division One

Chadsmoor & Ward End Cons earn fab four, Castlefields out of bottom two

Chadsmoor and Ward End Cons both earned fab fours in Gameweek 10 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Chadsmoor got it at near rivals Castlefields while Ward End got them at Baddesley. Ward End Cons backed up their good home win over Baddesley with four winners there, Scott Wallis the best of them 16 and Gary Weetman MVP for winning 18. The home side were thankful for best winner and MVP Willie Beal for his 7 victory to help win the aggregate. Chadsmoor will be very happy with their 4 at Castlefields after not playing for three weeks in the league. Captain Kevin Keary was “pleased with our 4 at Castlefields on what was probably the heaviest green we’ve been on the past couple of weeks. The team has been struggling away so nice to get some decent points on the board and hopefully we can kick on for the remainder of the season.” Castlefields were thankful for best winner and MVP Callum Wraight winning 1, while for the visitors best winner was Stuart Edwards 6 while Jason Simmons was MVP 19. Castlefields then won 7-3 over Moseley CC today as they climbed out of the bottom two. They beat them 7-3, but with two 20 losers, will be ruing that they didn’t win bigger. James Seville was one of those winners to get MVP, while Scott Follis was best winner 17. Callum Wraight was again MVP and best winner for his 5 win.

Penn got themselves a good 8-2 win over the Three Magpies. Skipper Rob Perry says “Scott Harries played well, he was 12-2 up and never let his opponent get back in. Mick Brown also played well (to win 12 and MVP) and Steve Sterland managed to get revenge on Jason Groom from the previous week.” Rob himself was best winner 8, while for the visitors captain Mitch Harvey led by example with his 12 win, being best winner and MVP. Great Barr also got a 8-2 win against Moseley CC, with James Parkes was best winner 5 and young gun Lucas Hall MVP for his 6 win. FOr the away side it was Scott Follis who was best winner and MVP 21-11. Royal Oak will be very happy with their 3 at the Windmill as it keeps them top. Martin Perks was best winner and MVP for his 11 win, while for the home side, Glyn Storer continuing his unbeaten start winning 6 to be best winner, but Mick Bardsley got MVP for winning 9.

Royal Oak are four clear with a game in hand on Three Magpies, while Chadsmoor are four behind Baddesley and seven adrift of Castlefields but have a game in hand. Glyn Storer is still unbeaten and leads the League Averages by two wins to Scott Follis.
