George Whitewash, West Brom earn fab five away
The George got themselves a whitewash over Moor Lane as they closed the gap on the leaders the Greville Arms to 7 points. Captain Elliot McGuinness led the way winning 7, and commented on a “great result again on Monday. It keeps us in touch with the Greville at the top of the league. Our next two games this Saturday at home to Nordley and Monday away at M&B Cheslyn Hay will make or break our season.” Russell Prosser got MVP for them for his 19 win while Chris Gerrard was MVP for the visitors for getting 17. Nordley are just three behind the George after getting a good 3 at Tanworth In Arden and will want a similar result on Saturday at the George to keep with them. Ant Bracken was best winner 13 but Paul Evans got MVP for his 20 win. For the home side it was Dave Clarke who was best winner 5 and Dave Wolverson MVP for winning 18, who move 6th.
Greville sit top but it will be King George V who will be happier with their 3 winners there as they look to keep in touch at the bottom. Captain Jason Galvin admits “they were a bit short to be fair, but Tom Pritchard always bowls the Greville well and he did again to beat Darren Plenderleith. Paul Ward played really well to beat Steve Wallace and so did Neil Harrell (who got MVP and best win for his 10 card). If we could have sneaked another winner it would have been brilliant. But we will keep fighting to stay in this tough league but it won’t be easy!” Chris Halford was best winner 11 with Darren Round getting MVP for his 14 win. West Brom FSC are still up there too as they got a fab five at M&B Cheslyn Hay, who are still near the bottom of the table. Skipper Rob Carter says “we had a weakened side without Andy Saunders and Jason Cooke and the green was very quick. Dave East was excellent for them (to win 9 and MVP). I though Chris Watts, Nick Brookes and Rachel Bennett played very well for us. Good result for us in the end.” Rob led by example winning 12 to be best winner and MVP, while Aaron Tapper was best winner for M&B 7. Dudley Dell continued their good home form with an 8-2 win over St Georges, with Jamie Wyer starring with his 4 win to be best winner and MVP. The two winners for the Dragons were Clay Flattley 15 and Colin Beaman 17, the latter earning MVP.
The Greville Arms lead by 7 to the George, who could overtake them tomorrow with their game in hand. King George V are 2 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay but having played a game more.
There is another game on today as Moseley CC visit Castlefields. Castlefields know a win will take them above Baddesley while Moseley know four winners could move them 2nd.
