Paul Lamb of King George V reached the Quarter Finals of the BCGBA Senior Individual Merit today but lost out to Gareth Gwillam 18 after a fantastic run. He was in great form after dispatching his first three opponents single figures, Peter Clarke 5, Ryan Clark 9 and Neale Charlton 8. Greville Arms’ Darren Plenderleith reached the last 16 as he tried to defend his title, losing out to Gareth 17 after beating team mate Pete Dunkley 9 and Spencer Clarke 16. Other team mates Carl Fielding and Ross Dunkley lost 19 and 12 against Lee Heaton and John Gurney respectively. M&B Cheslyn Hay’s Dave East won his first game 10 against Neil Desmond, but was another of our players to lose to Gwillam 13. St Georges’ Tony Rhodes beat M&Bs Chris Ward 11 but then came up against Ed Furniss 10. The George’s Elliot McGuinness won his first game 12 against Steve Pratt before being defeated 15 by John Bailey. George Chapman of Baddesley caused a shock first round against Craig Gant, winning 15, before being beaten by Dean Ferris 7. James Seville of Moseley CC was defeated to winner Chris Mordue 11 after beating Nick Wyer of Dudley Dell 14, Chris also having beaten Callum Wraight 15 of Castlefields. West Brom FSCs Wayne Phillips and Stretton Anglesey’s Conor Chamberlain both lost 18 to Neil Bithell and Danny Barwise respectively.
