Gameweek 14 Review – Premier Division

St Georges win away, Moor Lane whitewash

St Georges won away to plunge Tanworth In Arden into deep trouble in Gameweek 14 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won there 9-3 to put any relegation worries behind them. Stand in captain Nige Evans admitted “conditions where in our favour, the home side will admit that themselves with the green holding. The majority of the team had good runs with the jack in hand. Overall very satisfying performance and great team result!” Nige himself was MVP with his 16 card, with Carl Hazelhurst best winner 12. For the home side Barry Maskell Jnr was best winner and MVP for his 15 win. Moor Lane eased their relegation fears with a 10-0 whitewash of West Brom FSC. Captain Bob Hickman said “the team played very well from 1 to 8 which took us out of the bottom two. We now have another home game on Monday which we need to build on our result. But we know it will be difficult against a good M&B Cheslyn Hay team.” Jack Whitehead was best winner 5, while Kirk Stevens and Rob Carter were involved in an all MVP match, which Kirk won 15. The Greville Arms are still top after beating M&B Cheslyn Hay 8-2. Josh Hale was best winner and MVP 3, with Reece Farr the same for the visitors after his 19 win. The George matched them at home to Dudley Dell, as Greg Smith was best winner 4 and Ryan Prosser MVP 5. For the Dell it was Simon Homer best winner and MVP 21-19. Willenhall Nordley lost a point to the top two as they beat King George V 7-3. Ant Bracken was best winner and MVP 8, while Jason Galvin and Chris Bergin both won 9 to be best winners, with the latter MVP.

Greville are four ahead of the George, and a further 5 ahead of Willenhall Nordley. Tanworth In Arden are 6 behind King George V, who are a further point back from M&B Cheslyn Hay. Elliot McGuinness is now 13 out of 13, two ahead of Ryan Prosser.
