Gameweek 14 Review – Division 1

Moseley go top, Ward End ease fears

Moseley CC build on last weeks away win as they beat Royal Oak 9-1 to go top of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League in Gameweek 14. Captain Nick Peters said “after a fantastic win the week before away on Royal Oak we knew we had a tough game ahead with the return fixture at Moseley. They always seem to play our green very well and with the recent short spell of bad weather the green wasn’t in our favour. However, the team again all got behind each other and battled for every end and there were some great individual performances but as a whole a massive team spirit which ended with us being 9-1 victors. Credit to Royal Oak Who put up a great battle and they could’ve quite easily gone away with a few more points. On to the next game now!” Bill Kinchin was best winner and MVP for the home side 6 while Dane Hopwood was the winner for the visitors 20 to get MVP, who now need to regroup for their last five games. Great Barr are now second after just beating Penn 6-4 and by 9. They were thankful for single figure wins by Andy Sprason 5 and Phil Wain 7, with Phil getting MVP. Andy Jones was best winner 8 and son Mark MVP for winning 11.

Ward End Cons eased their relegation fears with a 9-1 win over Chadsmoor. Adam Weaver was best winner and MVP 7 with Pete  Cookson the same for the visitors 20. Baddesley have given themselves chances of staying up with an 8-2 winniver Windmill. George Chapman was best winner 5 with Carl Wilkins getting MVP for winning 15. It was Kevin Handley and Glyn Storer who won 11 and 18 respectively for the Mill, with Glyn getting MVP. Castlefields also gave themselves a chance of getting out of trouble with a 7-3 win over Three Magpies.

Moseley CC are top by a point to Great Barr, who are 6 ahead of Three Magpies. Chadsmoor are 4 behind Baddesley and 9 behind Castlefields, but with a home game in hand on them both. Scott Follis leads Glyn Storer on aggregate at the top of the League Averages.
