Gameweek 17 Review – Division One

Moseley & Royal Oak favourites, Chadsmoor & Ward End Cons to battle it out

Moseley CC and Royal Oak are hot favourites to earn promotion after two massive wins in Gameweek 17 of Division One in the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Moseley CC won at rivals Three Magpies to harm their bid to go up while strengthening theirs massively. They only had three winners but Ron Regan’s best win of 10 and Grant Soller’s MVP win of 14 meant they won the aggregate by 2. Home captain Mitch Harvey’s best win of 11 earned him MVP but wasn’t enough to earn the aggregate. Royal Oak beat Chadsmoor 10-0 to also give themselves a great chance of going up now. Keith Knight was best winner 9 with Adam Hopwood, with Keith getting MVP. Dave Rhodes got MVP for the visitors for getting 18, but were buoyed by the news that Ward End Cons got no winners at Windmill. John Evans was their MVP for getting the closest with his 20, as Phil Chester was best winner for the home side 4, and Vic Gray MVP for winning 6. Spokesman Daz Handley said “great home result for the Mill boys. As always it never lets us down just need to improve away, which many teams will agree is difficult!” They still have a chance of promotion but would need a decent away win on Monday. Castlefields virtually put away any thought of relegation now as they got 4 winners at Penn. Keith Wall was their best winner and MVP 11, while Rob Perry and Scott Harries were best winners 10 for the home side, but James Duce got MVP for winning 11. Baddesley beat Great Barr 9-1 to end their promotion hopes, despite captain Bob Jones being their winner 11, to earn himself MVP. Home captain Phil Brown was their best winner and MVP 7.

Moseley CC are two ahead of the Royal Oak, who are 5 ahead of the Windmill in 3rd. Baddesley are 7 behind Chadsmoor after their points deduction, with Chadsmoor another 7 behind Ward End Cons, with their game in hand against Castlefields to be played on Monday 10th September. Glyn Storer is 1 win ahead of team mate Kevin Handley at the top of the League Averages.
