Stretton seal title, 3 points separate 3rd to 8th

Stretton Anglesey sealed the Division 2 title in style as they won 10-2 at Baldwin. Successful captain Paul Chamberlain said he was “very pleased with the result obviously, everyone played well. We’ve played well 2nd half of the season especially. I hoped we’d go close but you never know in a new league but very happy to win the league. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to being competitive in Division One next season.” Andrew Thompson was their best winner and MVP 11, with the home team’s two winners being John Newsome 18 and Lee Harvey 20, with Lee gaining MVP. The race for 3rd is incredibly tight, with three points separating that position to 8th. Netherseal currently sit in 3rd place after getting two winners at Sutton Park, who are a point behind them now. Richard Goldby was their best winner and MVP 15, while for the home side it was Nigel Corbett 7 best winner and David Sadler MVP for winning 10. Wrockwardine Wood are a point behind 3rd after getting one winner at Woodfield, Angela Gaut 17, which earned her MVP. Home captain Nick Newey was their best winner 5, with Lee Bevin getting MVP for his 20 win. Willenhall Nordley are level with the Wrockites after drawing at Broomfield with 3 winners. Michael Thomas was their best card 8, but Rich Bate got MVP for winning 9. Dave Chilton was best winner for the home side 10, but Darren Griffiths got MVP for his 20 win. Short Heath Libs continued their remarkable form up as they won at Langley 8-4. Stuart Bateman was their best winner and MVP 9, with home captain Sarah Beaman likewise with her 10 win. Captain Tony Rhodes commented on “another good result and some good result individually from two reserves brought in due to holidays!”

Stretton Anglesey are 13 ahead of Woodfield, who are 30 ahead of Netherseal now. Nick Newey is 4 chalks ahead of Craig Barker at the top of the League Averages, in what promises to be a tight last game on Monday.
