Gameweek 18 Review – Division Two

Netherseal clinch third, Short Heath cap remarkable second half, Wrockites barely clinch last money spot

Netherseal managed to just seal third place by just a point in Gameweek 18 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They beat Sutton Park 6-4 at home to scramble home, captain James Southern the best winner 5 and Elliott Laboure MVP for winning 16, while for the away side it meant they finished just two points outside of the prize money spots, despite Matthew Danks winning 10 and Stephen Danks winning 15 for MVP. Short Heath Libs capped off an incredible second half to the season as they finished in 4th place, an incredible achievement seeing as they were bottom for most of the season. Captain Tony Rhodes said he was “really pleased with the way in which we finished the second half of the season and to finish in 4th place was very satisfying.” They beat Langley 7-3 with Gary Bateman best winner 8 and Des Parsons MVP for winning 13. For Langley it was Matt Beaman who was best winner and MVP 13 as they finish bottom of the table. Wrockwardine Wood managed to get 5th place by the skin of their teeth as they beat Woodfield by just one chalk and 6-4. Josh Cotton was MVP with his 8 win, while for the already promoted visitors it was Stuart Jones who was MVP and best winner 9. Willenhall Nordley just missed out by 38 chalks as they beat Broomfield 6-4. Ian Whitehouse was best winner 3 with Wayne Jones getting MVP for losing 20 to Darren Hamblett, who also got MVP. Darren Griffiths was best winner for the visitors 4. Stretton Anglesey finished off their maiden campaign with a 9-1 win over fellow debutants Baldwin. Captain Paul Chamberlain was best winner 8 and Edward Wallis MVP for winning 10, while Emily Kernick was winner for Baldwin 11 to earn herself MVP and a very solid first season for them.

Craig Barker won MVP by just 3 chalks to Nick Newey as he won 9 compared to Nick’s 16 win.
