Scott Simpson of Willenhall Nordley won the Wrockwardine Wood Open for a third time after beating Staffordshire County team mate Nathan Dawes from Dudley Dell 19 in a very close final. No more than three points separated the two players, with Nathan leading early on with the help of more 2s as he was 10-7 up, before Scott then was aided by four 2s himself as he lead 17-16. He went 19-17 up before going 19 across and then scoring two singles to win the competition again. In the Semi Finals and Scott defeated Scott Harries of Penn after leading 10-1 early on. Scott came back to 16 across with the help of five 2s, before Simpson pulled away to win 17. The other Semi was a closer affair, with Nathan beating Darren Plenderleith of the Greville Arms 20. Nathan had a break of 8 to go 13-6 up before Darren got back to 13-11. From 15 across Darren went 20-15 up but Nathan then ran out.
In the Quarter Finals and Nathan got past Ashley Tattersley 16 after coming back from 9-3 down to lead 17-11 and finish if off. Darren beat Dudley Dell’s Simon Homer 20, who beat favourite Mike Beer from Castlefields first round 18, after leading 12-3 and 20-16. Scott Harries defeated Ben Lynch from Three Magpies 15, after holding off a fightback from 20-9 up. Scott Simpson also won 15, against another former winner in Pete Farmer.
