The first major competition of the season starts as the St Georges Open gets going today, and it starts off with some top quality bowlers! Former Champion of Champion Mike Beer of Castlefields is there, along with his team mates Andy Duckett, Adam Jones and Jon Palmer, the Autumn Waterloo holder. Willenhall Nordley Father and Son Steve and Dan Bodley take part. There are plenty of big names from outside the county, including Andy Cairns, Dave McDermott, Ivan Smout, Jason Galvin of King George V, Dan Petcher of Netherseal and Conor and Paul Chamberlain from Stretton Anglesey, all players who have gone far in a major competition before. Jack Whitehead of Moor Lane has plenty of talent to go far, as well as James Seville and Gavin Dunkley from Moseley CC. Other league players include Gaz Bateman of Short Heath Libs, Nathan Dawes of Dudley Dell and Natty Tonks from Baddesley.
It promises to be a great day of competition, so get yourself down the green and see some top players start off the competition season.
