Good luck to Castlefields and M&B!

Castlefields and M&B Cheslyn Hay take their place in the BCGBA World Club Championships today hoping to win the trophy again. Castlefields won it in the old format three times and got to the final last season, but face a tough opener against local side Lower Hopton, featuring Graeme Wilson, Robert Hitchen and former Shropshire County player Ian Booth. Captain Alan Peach comments “to be honest it will be a very difficult game against basically homesters. But we are not going there to lie down, we can only give it our best shot!” Castlefields are without some of their regulars, but will still take a decent side up there. If they win they will play either Tixall or Esclusham.

On the other green is M&B Cheslyn Hay who won this competition in its old format in 2014. They have a tough opener to against another local side in Pudsey. Captain Aaron Tapper knows “it will be a tough opening game against local opposition, we are aware of the quality they have but we plan to give it our best. We have a different look side since last time we won it in 2014.” If they win they will play either King Alfred or Min Y Don.

The League and the Summit Garage would like to wish both teams all the best.
