Gameweek 3 Review – Premier Division

St Georges win away, Moor Lane do double

St Georges won away in Gameweek 3 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League as they beat West Brom FSC 9-3 to keep their opponents winless. Captain Pete Grimston commented on a “great team performance after bringing 4 players in. To win away at a hard place like West Brom is great. Jason Wilson 13 nil down to get 15 was really good. We have lost a couple of players so this is a great away win for us.” One of those 4 players who came in, Barry Gilder, won 12 to be best winner and MVP, while for the home side it was Rachel Bennett with her 13 win. Moor Lane did the double over Willenhall Nordley with another impressive performance in an 8-2 win. Joint captain Ashley Hickman was best winner 11, but it was Adam Walker, part of four 21-16 victories, who got MVP. For the away side it was Dave Semper’s 14 win that was their best and earned him MVP. The Greville Arms won by the same scoreline against M&B Cheslyn Hay, Pete Dunkley their best 5 and Josh Hale gaining MVP for his 10 success. For the visitors it was Chris Ward best winner and MVP for his 21-17 win.

Dudley Dell will be satisfied with their three winners at Moseley CC, matching their result at home. Nick Wyer was their best success 10 with Nathan Dawes getting MVP for his 19 win. For the home side it was a solid first home win with Adam Kirby best winner 4 and Bill Kinchin MVP for his 11 victory. Castlefields also won 7-3 against the champions the George. Andy Duckett was their best winner 8 while Matt Price was best for the Champions 15 and Rob Carter MVP for his 17 success.

The George are two points ahead of St Georges, with West Brom FSC 4 adrift of Moseley CC at the bottom. Seven players are unbeaten with 3 wins, Callum Wraight top of them on aggregate, while four have two MVPS in the race to claim the £50 first prize as sponsored by Mark Taylor Support Ltd.
