The George win big, Dell earn fab four

The George put down a marker in Gameweek 4 as they won 10-2 at the George in the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Phil Clinton commented on “a good away performance which saw the first four having to dig in as Moseley started well. Pleased to come out with two winners out of first four. Russ Prosser 14-4 down and won 17 with Mick McGuinness battling well to win 21-20. Back four played tidy with Marc Wilson winning 12 and the MVP (and best winner). Great result which keeps us ticking along nicely.” Scott Saunders won 14 and Nick Peters won 16 and MVP. The Greville won 8-2 against Willenhall Nordley with the best card only being 13, that being delivered by Josh Hale and Carl Fielding for the home side, which earned Josh MVP. Dan Bodley was best winner and MVP for the away side with his 19 card.

Dudley Dell will be happy with their 4 winners at Moor Lane. Skipper Jamie Wyer says “I think everyone played the difficult Moor Lane really well. We had a poor start with an early 4 loser but after that I think Jason Westwood and Simon homer played great. Then the back 4 were just as good. Nick Wyer played really well to win half way (to earn MVP and best win) and Nathan Dawes just got over the line after a strong start. Pete Withey lay game on last end but a great bowl from Paul Patrick stopped us from getting 5 winners. But overall I was very happy and proud of our team performance.” Adam Walker was best winner and MVP for his 21-4. St Georges and M&B Cheslyn Hay had the closest game of the night as only 8 chalks separated the two teams. The home team won 7-3 with Sonya Lucas best winner and MVP 7 and Neil Bromley was the same for the visitors with his 10 victory. West Brom FSC won 6-4 over Castlefields to earn their first win of the season. They were thankful for Rachel Bennett winning 3 and Andy Saunders winning 9 to be MVP. For the visitors it was Callum Wraight and Mark Taylor who were best winners 10, with the latter getting MVP.

The George are 5 points clear of St Georges, with West Brom FSC and Moseley CC bottom on 12 points. Five players have won 4 out of 4, with Callum Wraight leading the way. There are 7 players who have won 2 MVPs.
