Greville follow champs footsteps, Nordley earn fab four
The Greville Arms followed in the Champions footsteps by winning at Moseley CC in Gameweek 5 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won there 8-4 to keep up their pursuit of the Champions the George, but it was a close one! Captain Andy Nuttall commented on “a very tight game with 4 winners a piece on a heavy green. The overall match was tipping one way then the other and we got across the line with the last bowl of the game.” They won by one chalk with thanks to Carl Fielding’s best win of 7 and Darren Plenderleith’s 10 win that earned him MVP. For the home side it was Bill Kinchen who was best winner and MVP for his 21-6 success. The George now lead by 8 points after beating St Georges 8-2. Marc Wilson was best winner and MVP 5, with Lewis Scott best winner 13 and Nige Evans’ MVP win of 20 the successes for the visitors.
Castlefields are level with the Greville after winning 8-2 against Moor Lane. Adie Rowe was best winner and MVP 2, with Adam Walker the same for the away side with a 19 win. Willenhall Nordley will be happy with their 4 winners at Dudley Dell. Captain Scott Simpson led the way with a 21-15 card, but Ant Bracken got MVP for winning 18. For the hosts it was captain Jamie Wyer that was their best winner 9, but Craig Cartwright was MVP for his 11 win. M&B Cheslyn Hay were 7-3 winners over West Brom FSC with Chris Ward their best winner and MVP 10 as Rachel Bennett was best for the visitors 16 and Kevin Hickman MVP for his 20 success.
