Baddesley whitewash, Nordley close again
Baddesley got themselves a whitewash in Gameweek 6 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They defeated Langley 10-0 to move top of the league and please captain Phil Brown. “Close game in the 1st four blocks. Green advantage showed in the back four. Green was probably not at its quickest otherwise it may have been a bigger shot difference. Difficult game next week with a few away.” Tom Lea was best winner 9 while Petrie Dewis was MVP for his 19 win. MVP for Langley was David Buttery for getting 18. Willenhall Nordley came close to an away win as they got 4 winners at Baldwin but lost by 4 chalks. The home side was thankful to Lee Harvey who won 5 to be best winner and MVP, while the away side had Mick Ledwidge best winner 8 and Wayne Jones MVP for winning 18.
The other two games finished 8-2 to the home side. Broomfield defeated Short Heath Libs while Sutton Park beat Wrockwardine Wood. Broomfield skipper Darren Griffiths said it “was a good result, the green is currently in superb condition. Team performed well considering it was our first home fixture of the season with all the bank holidays and byes now out of the way.” Jon Blakeman was best winner and MVP 1, with Terry Evans the same for the away side for his 18 win. Sutton Park kept up their good home form as Stephen Danks was best winner 7 and David Sadler MVP 8. For the Wrockites it was Martin Gaut who was best winner and MVP 19.
Baddesley are top by one point to Willenhall Nordley, who are another 4 ahead of Short Heath Libs. Martin Gaut is the only player 6 out of 6 and is also leading the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. MVPs with 4.
