Gameweek 7 Review – Premier Division

George continue run, Moseley earn another good 3

The George continued their great run as they beat West Brom FSC 9-1. Captain Phil Clinton said it was “another good result in difficult conditions. Two good wins from Greg Smith and Ryan Prosser both 9 (to be best winners) and an MVP performance from Ben Harris winning 10. Russ Prosser showed good battling qualities to win his game 20. A good performance from Stu Watts winning 13 stopped the full house (to win MVP).” The Greville Arms dropped another point behind the leaders as they only beat Dudley Dell 8-2. Mitch Harvey was best winner 9, with Steve Wallace getting MVP for winning 11. Paul Beechey was best winner for the visitors 15 but Jason Westwood won MVP for his 20 success.

Moseley CC got another good three winners away from home on Castlefields. Spokesman Bill Kinchin said “in the first four, James Seville and Scott Follis were outstanding, winning to 7 and 12 respectively (to be best winner and MVP respectively). Keith Wall was exceptional against Scott Saunders (to be best winner and MVP 7) and Malcolm Follis’ game was nip and tuck at 13-12 down but never scored again as Kiah Roberts green knowledge came to his rescue. The second four saw Adam Kirby take on Callum Wraight and get a creditable 10. Grant Soller was his usual impeccable self winning to 16. My game was nip and tuck to 18 16 down but Rich Goddard bowled 2 great ends in the corner to finish the game. Finally Karen Kinchin had a tremendous game on her debut having Mike Beer in all sorts of trouble and led 16 14 before he launched her full corners and ran out. Really proud of all the team, great effort.” The other two games ended 8-2 to the home side. Moor Lane defeated St Georges with Paul Patrick best winner 7 and Chris Gerrard MVP for winning 10. Mike Wainwright was best winner and MVP 18 for the visitors. Willenhall Nordley beat M&B Cheslyn Hay but only by 2 shots. An MVP performance from best winner Aaron Tapper 21-6 for the away side nearly pulled off a remarkable win as opposition captain Scott Simpson was best winner 14 and Ant Bracken got MVP for winning 20.

The George are now 12 clear of the Greville Arms, with Moseley CC two behind West Brom FSC and another 9 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay. Callum Wraight is the only player on 7 wins out of 7. Marc Wilson is still out on his own with 4 MVPs for the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. award.
