Gameweek 10 Preview

Premier Division

Moseley CC will aim to bounce back as they travel to Willenhall Nordley in Gameweek 10 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They lost at home last week to leave them bottom and knowing they will most likely need an away win to give them a chance of survival. Nordley though after that win will be looking at a top three finish again. West Brom FSC also could do with an away win as they travel to Moor Lane. Moor Lane though have had a good season so far and will be looking for a top three finish. The George will look to get back to winning ways as they host the Dell. The Dell though have been doing well so far this season and will be wanting at least a top half finish. The Greville Arms finally made some ground on the leaders last week and know they could do with a win at St Georges as the leaders won there a few weeks ago. St Georges need a win to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle after that home loss. M&B Cheslyn Hay will be happy with their 3 last week at Castlefields and will look to build on that at home. The Fields though have done well away so far and will want to keep that up to stay at the top of the table.

Division One

Penn will look to beat King George V to continue their latest revival to try and move off bottom spot. Penn spokesman Rob Burroughs says “we know this is one of toughest home games we can have given their form. However after those two early home defeats we have improved well and been unlucky on a few occasions with some close defeats. We know we can’t afford anymore slip ups now if we are to avoid being relegated in a very competitive division.” King George still have a commanding lead at the top and know an away win will put one hand on the title. Tanworth in Arden have been doing well at home, with several 9-1s, but know they need to match that with their away form. They travel to Great Barr who themselves are after a good result after dropping down to second bottom. Captain Stuart Bishop says “we are going with a strong side and will be looking to pick up more winners they they had at our green.” Wars End Cons have continued their good form and sit in a good place for promotion as they travel to Royal Oak. The Oak are just above the relegation zone so need a good home win to keep clear of trouble. Woodfield had a great 9-1 win over Windmill last week and will want to get a few more winners than the Mill did. Windmill will want to at least match that to set themselves up for a crack at promotion.

Division Two

Baldwin will look to bounce back from their home defeat against Baddesley last week. Captain Jim Kernick is “looking forward to the game against the league leaders. Never having seen the green before it will be very challenging, against a very competitive side. Our aim is to hopefully pick up a few points.” Baddesley look well set now to win the league if they don’t have any slip ups at home. Sutton Park will look to overtake gameless Willenhall Nordley in 2nd as they travel to Broomfield. The Park haven’t done to well away from home so far so will need to improve if they are to have a chance of promotion. Broomfield will aim to bounce back from that defeat if they are to move up the table. Wrockwardine Wood got a good three at Short Heath Libs last week and will look to better that at home. Skipper Martin Gaut says”after getting three at Short Heath last week we’re hoping to beat that score at home. 8-2 is the target and anything better would be a bonus.” Short Heath have been struggling for form lately and need a turn around if they are to have a chance of promotion. Langley came so close to winning at Heath Hayes last week and will look to better that result at home. The visitors are playing without pressure given they are rock bottom at the moment.
