The top two meet in Gameweek 15 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Premier Division. Long time leaders the George were overtaken by the Greville Arms last week, and will now look to keep in touch with them as they visit there. Captain Phil Clinton says “with the Greville hitting a great run of form and all but winning the league we go there looking to pick a couple of points to consolidate second place. Anything else will be a bonus for us against a top side.” The Greville know they have “four cup finals” coming up now and know a big win will virtually seal the league. Moor Lane will look to bounce back from that home defeat last week as they entertain M&B Cheslyn Hay, who are nervously looking over their shoulders still after Moseley CCs away win last season. Moseley entertain St Georges knowing a big win is needed to real in M&B and their visitors, although a good end to the Dragons could net a top 5 spot. West Brom FSC though are all but down, and take on Dudley Dell who know an away win could get them a top 3 spot. Castlefields are just behind Moor Lane now in 3rd and entertain the team directly below them Willenhall Nordley with both teams after that 3rd position.
Leaders King George V entertain Windmill knowing two home wins will seal promotion and most likely the championship. Windmill though still need the points to beat the drop. The team below them are Great Barr who go to Netherseal who could get a top half spot or be relegated. Ward End Cons are in second and need a big win against Woodfield to stay there. Woodfield though have been in good form despite only being 5 points above the relegation zone. Stretton Anglesey are two behind that promotion spot and go to Royal Oak for the first time, another team who could get a top half spot or be in trouble. Tanworth in Arden are another team in that mid table gaggle, and host Penn who are down barring some inspired wins.
Baddesley and Willenhall Nordley meet with both teams looking for promotion. Nordley captain Bill Pitt is “looking forward to a challenging game against a very good Baddesley side. We need to bring our ‘A’ game against Baddesley after what was a disappointing trip to Sutton Park last week to hopefully keep in the hunt for promotion.” Baddesley know that no bad results will mean they are up, and skipper Phil Brown has his “focus now on the table top clash at Willenhall Nordley. Be nice to have a couple of winners to keep up the momentum.” Baldwin are between the duo and know a good home win over Langley is needed to be in amongst them again, with Langley having a chance of a top 5 visit. Wrockwardine Wood travel to Broomfield knowing a good end to the season could mean a finish in the prize money. Captain Martin Gaut says “honestly, I want us to get any points. I think we’ve got beat 10-0 the last two times we’ve been there.
Realistically I want us to get at least 2 as that’s the target for every away game for us this season.” Broomfield have dipped recently and will not want to be caught by bottom placed Heath Hayes who travel to Sutton Park, a team that won 10-0 last week and will be looking to get into the top half of the table.
