Gameweek 16 Review – Premier Division

Moseley keep hopes alive, Nordley win well

Moseley CC kept their hopes alive of survival after beating the team directly above them, M&B Cheslyn Hay, 9-1 in Gameweek 15 of the Premier Division in the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Nick Peters says “with a couple out this week and our last home game of the season I wanted the team to go out and enjoy it. Give as much as possible to each other, get behind each other and enjoy the game. With M&B not seeing our green often was to our advantage but when they walked through the doors you could see they have some talent. I started with Grant Soller at 1 and he was pitched against Chris Ward, this was a fantastic game nip and tuck with Grant edging it. I was up next at 2 and was drawn with Cliff Johnson who had beat me at home previously when he was at Chadsmoor so I new it was a difficult match. I raced into a 19-7 lead but couldn’t seem to get those important last shots. He got back in and played some decent stuff but then I found the shots and won 15. Next was Ron Reagan v Reece Farr and Reece played some awesome stuff striking his was to an early lead but Ronnie dug deep and found an extra gear to come out on top winning to 17. Next was James Seville who has been playing really well on Monday and again didn’t disappoint by winning to 8 (to be best winner and MVP). 4 out of 4 winners in the 1st 4. 2nd 4 was very close and we kept going only having the 1 loser. Therefore a great last home game, if only we could’ve done that in the earlier part of the season!” Dave East was the away side’s winner 14, but Reece got MVP for getting 17. West Brom FSC are all but down now after they lost at home to Willenhall Nordley 10-2. Rachel Bennett won 13 for them and Andy Saunders won 18 to be their MVP. Dan Bodley was Nordley’s best winner and MVP 11.

The Greville Arms have extended their lead at the top of the table after they beat Castlefields 8-2. Darren Plenderleith was best winner 4 and Steve Wallace MVP 5. For the Fields it was Callum Wraight who was best winner and MVP with his 21-7 card. The George will be ruing a 2 chalk loss at Moor Lane as they slipped further behind. They got 3 winners with Matt Price best winner 8 and Phil Clinton MVP for winning 15. Chris Gerrard led the way with his 6 win to help win the aggregate. St Georges beat Dudley Dell 8-2. Sonya Lucas was best winner and MVP 7 while for the Dell it was Pete Withey with his 9 win.

The Greville Arms are fourteen points clear of the George at the top, while West Brom FSC are ten points behind Moseley CC and now only 2 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay. Callum Wraight is still unbeaten and leads by one win to Lewis Scott, the only player who can catch him now. Andy Saunders has won the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. MVPs award after getting his ninth award of the season.
