Gameweek 18 Preview – Division Two

Three way battle for promotion

There are three teams that could be promoted in Gameweek 18 of Division Two in the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Baddesley are in pole position on 93 points, and host Willenhall Nordley who are in 3rd on 86 points. Baddesley captain Phil Brown knows it is a “tough game against good opponents. Could go to the wire. Let’s hope for a sunny day which may provide home green advantage. Extra food ordered for Mr Pitt!” Opposition skipper Bill Pitt says “we still have a punchers chance of lifting the title albeit this means gaining a significant win away against a really good side in Baddesley and also that Baldwin fail to get a result at Langley. Who knows?” Baldwin are in 2nd on 92 points, and know that 4 points at Langley will get them promotion. Skipper Jim Kernick says “it’s our final away game of the season away at Langley. A very tough place to finish off where our hosts have a pretty formidable home record at normal strength. We still need to pick up a few points to guarantee second place. Willenhall Nordley have a tough fixtures away at Baddesley, but they’re still mathematically in the hunt and will no doubt send a team capable of running Baddesley close. With all still to play for it should hopefully make for an interesting final week of the season.” Wrockwardine Wood and Sutton Park are chasing the last prize money spot which Short Heath Libs currently occupy. A good home win for the Wrockites at home to Broomfield should be enough to seal it, but if Sutton Park win at Heath Hayes then that should be good enough to get the place instead.
