Gameweek 18 Review – Division Two

Baddesley and Baldwin earn promotion

Baddesley won the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Division Two title with a 9-1 home win over Willenhall Nordley. Captain Phil Brown says it was a “great season and deserved success. Will be a new battle next year but we will be up for the challenge. Nice to see Michael Lynch win the averages and top the MVP table, well bowled Yoda!” George Chapman was best winner 1, while Ben Lynch won MVP with his 15 win. The winner for Nordley was Ian Whitehouse who won 13 to be MVP also. That result meant Nordley missed out on promotion to Baldwin, despite them getting just 1 winner at Langley. Skipper Jim Kernick says “we weren’t at our best in the last game of the season but Langley played very well as a team and were worthy winners. Gaining promotion has been an unexpected bonus due to us not being familiar with the majority of away greens, however the 2 away wins we have earned has proved just enough. We’ll hopefully be adding to the Monday squad over the Winter in order to be competitive again next season. It will be a very tough league indeed, but we’ll be looking forward to the challenge.” Their winner was Nathan Harvey 20 to earn him MVP, while Langley had Kris Norgrove as best winner and MVP 5. Wrockwardine Wood took the last prize money place in 4th with an 8-2 win over Broomfield. Sian Skelton and Tony Garmson were best winners 9, with Steve Downs MVP 12. Helen Williams 16 and Joe Wilson 18 were the winners for the away side, with Joe gaining MVP. Heath Hayes ended their maiden season with a 7-3 win over Sutton Park. Mal Gittings was best winner 5, with Darren Gittings MVP with his 7 win. The Park had Paul Copson as their best winner and MVP 12.

Baddesley won the title by 11 points, with Baldwin finishing 6 ahead of Nordley. Michael Lynch won the League Averages, and shared the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. MVP award with Dave Sadler as both won 6 nominations.
