We had 7 qualifiers in the first weekend of the St Georges Open, with the George accounting for four of those. Last year’s winner Ryan Prosser got through by beating Conor Chamberlain of Stretton Anglesey 10, Mark Thomas 18 and Moseley CCs Adam Kirby 14. Greg Smith qualified after defeating Willenhall Nordley’s Kevin Hocknull 12, Ivan Smout 8 and Liam McEgan 16. Elliot McGuinness beat another Nordley player in Scott Simpson 13 and Dave McDermott 15. Tom completed the foursome as he overcame Matt Allen 19, Jane Bowler 9 and Kieron Roberts 11.
John Dewey of Stretton Anglesey beat Nordley’s Ant Bracken 18, Jamie Fitzpatrick 17 and Jon Palmer of Castlefields 13. Jon’s team mate Mike Beer did get through after overcoming Natty Tonks of Baddesley 5, Rich Dandy 13 and Mark Booth 18. The final qualifier was Moseley CCs James Seville who got past Dan Taylor 13, Carl Doyle 18 and Dave Higginbottom 15.
