The Summit Garage Premier Bowls League goes from strength to strength. At the Annual general meeting the formation of a new division was confirmed. This follows the election to the league of four new clubs namely Moor Lane, West Bromwich Labour, M&B ‘B’ Hawkins & Bowring bowling clubs.

The league now In its third season is established as the Midlands Premier bowls league and now has a membership of 28 clubs. Total Prize money for the 2009 season is also increased to £5,300 with the Premier Division Champions collecting the £1,000 top prize.

League President & Sales Director for Summit Garage Ltd John Newey said “The league has proved an overwhelming success & Summit Garage are proud & delighted to continue as sponsors. It has certainly increased the profile of the sport in our area & hopefully improved the standard of the players involved”.

The league committee were all re elected: President John Newey, Deputy President Mark Clayton, Secretary Mel Evans, Records Secretary Nick Newey, Treasurer Lynn Pritchatt, Webmaster Paul Hickman, Committee Members Martin McGuinness & Mark Hall.

League Secretary Mel Evans said “When the league was formed in 2007 the committee never envisaged how successful it would become. We started with 10 teams & now have 28. So we must be doing something right” Mel added a word of warning to other interested clubs “Ideally, we would like a further two clubs for 2010 & anyone interested should apply asap as places maybe limited after that.”

The league commences on Monday 20th April and the opening round of fixtures are :-
