Dell whitewash, St Georges impress
Dudley Dell continued their incredible upturn in form as they whitewashed King George V in Gameweek 7 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League, leaving captain Nick Wyer speechless. “What can I say? After the first 4 is was all over, two 21/7 winners in Jamie Wyer and Nathan Dawes with Nathan earning MVP. After 4 we were comfortable and the back four all played well. First time this year we had green at a pace we wanted it and with condition improving every week we starting to bowl it better as a team again we had our strongest team out. KGV don’t really play our green well, we beat them 10/0 last year but am chuffed with way we bowled again last night as we continue to turn our miserable start around. With next week’s game being re-arranged, St Georges are our next opponents and we will be looking to follow last year’s win on there by getting a result again.” Simon Homer also won 7 to be joint best winner, while Ian Hickey got MVP for getting 19. St Georges got an excellent home win over M&B Cheslyn Hay, beating them 9-1. Skipper Pete Grimston said it was a “great team performance against a good side. Game of the night was Sonya Lucas and Chris Ward with some top class bowling. Now I know why I’m 2nd best bowler in the house! The inform Clay Flattley played very well in corners to win 5 (and be best winner). Now we need to start getting points away from home as well!” Dave King got MVP for his 9 win, with Steve Davis the only winner for the away side, winning 5 to also earn MVP too.
West Brom FSC are top of the league after beating the Greville Arms 7-3 at home. Andy Saunders was best winner and MVP for his 10 win, while Carl Fielding was likewise for the visitors with his 11 win. The George kept ahead of Willenhall Nordley as they got 3 winners there. Ryan Prosser was best winner 7, but Elliot McGuinness got MVP for his 18 win there. For the home side there was two single figure winners, Scott Simpson 3 and Paul Evans 9, with Paul earning the MVP award. Tanworth In Arden beat Moor Lane 8-2, Simon Dreher and Neil Clarke the best of their four single figure winners, 21-7, with Simon getting the MVP award. Chris Gerrard was the best of the two winners 17, which also earned him MVP.
