The Greville Arms’ Carl Fielding qualified for the George Masters after coming through two tough games. He defeated Steve Combellack 15 to start with, but then squeezed past Dudley Dell’s Jamie Wyer 30 and then Paul Latham 28. Paul Latham’s Chester Road team mate Martin Lloyd got through though as he beat Glen Herbert of the Three Magpies 28 and Craig Round 20.

Today sees a rare appearance by Callum Wraight as he tries to qualify on a green that he does like, he won his late county game on that green comfortably. Dudley Dell have more players try and qualify as Nathan Dawes and Nick Wyer take part, while M&B Cheslyn Hay have two also in Chris Ward and Gordon Hawkins. Paul Evans from Willenhall Nordley is another Staffordshire county player taking his place, along with Paul Lamb of King George V and young guns Jordie Baddeley and Ben Percival of Baddesley. Dean Missere, winner of the Sandal Classic, travels down from South Yorkshire to take part.
On Sunday and Spring Waterloo winner Kevan Shaw travels down to take part along with North Midlands start Pete Varney and Greville Arms pair Ross Dunkley and Josh Hale. Willenhall Nordley’s Mark Picknell and Kirk Stevens of Moor Lane will be expected to feature.
