Gameweek 6 Review – Premier Division

The George win again, Good win for Nordley

The George won away again in Gameweek 6 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won 9-3 at St Georges to continue their remarkable form. Skipper Phil Clinton says “a solid first four saw us have two winners through Ryan Prosser and Matt Price and Gareth unlucky losing 19 to Dave King (MVP) who was very good. Back four saw Marc Wilson, who is looking to earn a county place, play brilliantly to win to 6 and earn MVP and Rob Carter win 9 to see us home and take the aggregate.” The Greville Arms are now in second place after beating Moseley CC 7-3, but the away side will be happier with that points haul. James Seville was best winner and MVP for them 11, with Ross Dunkley getting that for the home side with his 21-7 win. Moor Lane joined Castlefields in 3rd on 33 points after beating them 7-3. Ashley Hickman was their best winner 2, but Paul Patrick got MVP for winning 16. For the Fields it was Andy Hughes who was best winner and MVP 11.

Willenhall Nordley recorded a very good 8-2 win over Dudley Dell. Captain Scott Simpson “knew we had to play well knowing how well the Dell play our green and the front 4 settled the game for us allowing the back 4 to relax and get us home. A real good performance to take into next week.” Paul Evans was best winner 4 with Dan Bodley MVP 18, with Steve Shaw bet winner and MVP for the visitors 15. West Brom FSC earned a valuable 8-2 win over M&B Cheslyn Hay to move off bottom spot. Rachel Bennett was best winner 7 and Andy Saunders MVP 18. Kevin Keary was best winner and MVP 12 for the opposition.

The George are now 11 ahead of the Greville Arms, while Moseley CC are four behind West Brom FSC and another four off Willenhall Nordley. Callum Wraight and Nathan Dawes have both won 6 out of 6, while Marc Wilson has won 4 MVPs to lead the Mark Taylor Support Ltd award.
