Gameweek 12 Review – Premier Division

Greville catch up, Bottom two struggle again

The Greville Arms are now only three points behind the George in Gameweek 12 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They beat West Brom FSC 9-1 to condemn their visitors virtually to the drop. Pete Dunkley was best winner and MVP 7, while Andy Saunders was only winner and MVP for the visitors 17. The George had lost 7-3 at M&B Cheslyn Hay to allow the Greville to close up. Marc Wilson was their best winner 13 with Elliot McGuinness MVP 20. For M&B, who are now virtually safe, Kevin Keary was best winner and MVP 4. The other team in the bottom three, Moseley CC, lost 9-3 at home to Moor Lane to pretty much seal their fate. Craig Round won 7 to be best winner and MVP, with Adam Patrick best winner for the visitors 6 and Chris Gerrard MVP 12 to move them up to third place. St Georges and Dudley Dell extinguished any relegation fears as they won 9-1 and 8-2 respectively. St Georges beat Willenhall Nordley in a fine win, captain Pete Grimston commenting “after our last home performance, where we lost to Greville, the team have responded with a great home win against a side who won at St. Georges last year. Aaron King played really to get his first win (and earn MVP). Over both legs we got more points so happy!” Lewis Scott was best winner 11, while Rich Bate was the winner for the visitors 15, also earning MVP. The Dell defeated Castlefields to keep a top half finish in range. Nathan Dawes was best winner and MVP 5, with Adie Rowe the same for the Fields 18.

The George are three ahead of the Greville, while at the bottom West Brom FSC are a point ahead of Moseley CC, but 17 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay. Callum Wraight has still not lost a game in 11, while Nathan Dawes and Andy Saunders have 5 MVPs and lead the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. award.
