The bottom two meet with both teams in last chance saloon for Gameweek 13 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Moseley CC host a team a point above them in West Brom FSC with both teams adrift at the bottom. Moseley captain Nick Peters says “as we sit at the foot of the table with only 2 wins to our name we face fellow strugglers West Brom in a must win home game tonight. We will not go down without a fight and will push for every shot.” Castlefields meet St Georges in a Shropshire Derby with both teams looking for a top half finish. Castlefields captain Mark Taylor knows there is “a good rivalry between both teams with both teams looking for the win.” The George will look to keep top spot as they host Willenhall Nordley, who are themselves after a top half finish. The Greville will look to keep the pressure on the league leaders as they play Moor Lane at home, but the visitors are in excellent form and are in prime position to finish in the top three. Dudley Dell play M&B Cheslyn Hay with both teams now looking to be safe with a good finish meaning both teams could finish in the top half and in the prize money.
League leadeers King George V host Royal Oak as they look to close in on promotion. The Royal Oak though are fighting down at the bottom and will look to build on a good three at Tanworth in Arden last week. Ward End Cons in second travel to Tanworth knowing they will have a tough match on their hands against a team that aren’t safe yet. Stretton Anglesey are still in a good position to be promoted as they travel to Woodfield. Captain Paul Chamberlain says “we realise it will be difficult as all away games are in this league! At least it’s somewhere we’ve been before and am hopeful of a good result.” Woodfield could sneak into the promotion picture with some good results. Penn are bottom and know time is running out to avoid relegation as they travel to Netherseal for the first time. The hosts know they aren’t safe either yet so will look to exploit the lack of knowledge Penn have. Great Barr are second bottom and travel to a Windmill side who have been excellent at home and are only four points above their visitors.
League leaders Baddesley are back in action as they travel to Short Heath Libs. Captain Phil Brown knows it is “clearly a tough away game for the table toppers. Will be interesting to see whether a two week break has helped or hindered our progress. The boys will be up for the challenge on a difficult green.” Short Heath come off a great win at Heath Hayes as they look to make a late charge for promotion. Willenhall Nordley are well placed for promotion still and host Sutton Park who have struggled for form recently. Wrockwardine Wood travel to Heath Hayes with the two teams currently in the bottom two places but 14 points separating them. Broomfield are also level with Wrockwardine Wood and travel to a Baldwin side who have hit form recently as they look to finish in the prize money positions.
