Greville hold on, Tanworth & Baldwin bottom two
The Greville Arms just held on to retain the Premier Division title of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League in week 18. They got only 3 winners at Baldwin, but with Triplex only beating Boldmere Sports & Social 8-2 and The George getting one winner at Willenhall Nordley, it meant they finished top of the pile. Victorious Greville skipper Russ Prosser is a “very pleased captain to retain our Summit league title, we’ve been pushed all the way by Triplex and The George in an exciting finale, but I’m really proud of the Greville lads that stepped up when needed.” Darren Plenderleith and Ross Dunkley were their best winners 12 but Darren Round got MVP for winning 18. For Baldwin it meant finishing in the bottom two. The two Kernicks Shannon and Emily were best winners 21-13 but Natty Tonks got MVP for winning 20. Triplex finished in their highest league position of 2nd with that win over Boldmere. Captain Liam Lowery says “it was a very good game. With us starting at 7 and Greville starting at 6:30 we knew what we had to do come towards the end but unfortunately we couldn’t get over the line! Credit to the Boldmere lads they all played it very well. Regarding Triplexes season, it’s been very good and enjoyable. It’s been a pleasure to captain such great lads and would’ve of loved to have been title winners at the end of it but we will be back next year to try again.” Best winner for them was Matt Caines 9 with Liam himself MVP for winning 10. For Boldmere it was John Evans best winner and MVP 13.
Willenhall Nordley rounded off their season with a 9-1 win over The George but just missed out on the prize money position by one point. Ant Bracken was best winner and MVP 4 for them with Elliot McGuinness rounding off an unbeaten season with MVP for winning 8. Moseley CC made sure they avoided the bottom two with a 9-1 success over Tanworth in Arden. Adam Kirby was best winner 5 and James Seville MVP for winning 13. Tanworth’s winner was Tim Mole 7 to earn him MVP. Stretton Anglesey got the last prize money position with a 7-3 win over West Brom FSC. Andy Milsom was best winner and MVP 10 for them while the best winner for the away side was Chris Watts 7 and MVP was Mike Hill winning 20.
The Greville won the league by one point to Triplex and another 3 points to The George. West Brom FSC finished 4th and Stretton Anglesey 5th. Tanworth in Arden finished bottom by 5 points to Baldwin and another 10 points adrift of Moseley CC. Elliot McGuinness won the League Averages with 16 out of 16 wins and James Seville won the most MVPs with 6.
