We are delighted to announce that another special guest for the Masked Entertainer MND Fundraising Dinner is none other than former England cricket star, official, and broadcaster Chris Broad. Chris was a key member of the England squad that finished as runners-up in the 1987 Cricket World Cup.
Chris, an accomplished opening batsman, played 26 Test matches for England, scoring six centuries throughout his career. He is best remembered for his extraordinary performance in the 1986/87 Ashes series, where he became the third Englishman to hit centuries in three consecutive Test matches. Known for his fiery temperament at the crease, Chris made his international debut in 1984 during the second Test against the West Indies at Lord’s. He followed this with his One Day International debut in 1986 against Australia in Perth. Over his career, he scored all six of his Test centuries on foreign soil, with a career-best score of 162.
In addition to his international achievements, Chris played domestically for Gloucestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Orange Free State. After retiring as a player, he transitioned into officiating and, in 2003, became an ICC Test Official, refereeing both Test matches and One Day Internationals.
The Broad family has a personal connection to Motor Neurone Disease, and through their organisation, The Broad Appeal, Chris, along with his children Stuart and Gemma Broad, works tirelessly to raise funds and awareness for MND.
