Tanworth beat Champs, Triplex continue good start
Tanworth in Arden defeated the Champions the Greville Arms in week 2 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Stuart Bishop says it was a “great team performance by the lads against a quality team. Got off to a great start with 4 winners which set up the win. Second 4 evened out with 2 winners apiece.” Best winner was Stuart himself 8 but Mark Gamsby got MVP for winning 11. Pete Dunkley was best winner and MVP for the visitors 4. Triplex kept their good start up with 4 winners at Willenhall Nordley. Skipper Liam Lowery acknowledges it was “brilliant from us Triplex boys again. We knew who tough it was going to be against a tough team in Nordley. The green is absolutely perfect. Unfortunately we didn’t get the win but every player played their part in a good result away at Nordley. Just want to wish the Nordley boys a good rest of the season, top lads.” Best winner and MVP for Triplex was Chris Bergin 11, with Paul Evans and Mark Jones best winners for Nordley 5, the former being MVP. Baldwin earned an 8-2 win over Moseley CC led by Emily Kernick’s 5 win and Ryan Walters’ MVP win of 6. For Moseley it was Grant Soller 10 and Nick Peters 12 the winners, with Nick getting MVP. Boldmere Sports & Social Club will be happy with their first win in this division after beating last year’s runners up Stretton Anglesey 8-2. Paul Freeth was best winner and MVP 4 for them. The two winners for Stretton were Darren Carter 10 and Brian Barrass 17, Brian getting the MVP. West Brom FSC matched the George’s home win over them as they defeated them 7-3. Andy Saunders was best winner 14 and Jordyn Hughes MVP for winning 15 as they only won the aggregate by 2. Paul Greene was best winner and MVP for the away side 11.
