Dudley Dell will aim to get their first win on the board in Gameweek 3 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League as they take on Willenhall Nordley. The two teams met in the Dudley Building Society League a couple of weeks back when the Dell is 11-3, but over 8 this is a different game. Nordley captain Scott Simpson knows “they are a good side but we have been there twice in 2 weeks so players know what the green is doing. It’s not in good condition but it still has to be played and we have a side capable of going to scab some winners.” The Greville Arms will look to build on their good away result last week as they host the George. The George themselves had a good home win last week but skipper Elliot McGuinness is looking for a better performance than their first away game. “After a disappointing 2 at Tanworth In Arden we will be looking for an improved performance, I’d probably say they are favourites to win the league and so it won’t be easy but we know the green well and so I’d like to think four winners is achievable.” Moor Lane have enjoyed two good results against the League Champions and travel to another green they will know, King George V. King George just beat St Georges last week and will look for a bigger win this time round. West Brom FSC sit top of the league and may fancy getting an away win at St Georges. But St Georges enjoyed a good home win first week and will want to keep that going. Tanworth In Arden will want to improve on their 2 at the George last week but will find it tough at M&B Cheslyn Hay who enjoyed a solid start to the season against Staffordshire rivals.
Baddesley will look to bounce back from their two disappointing opening results as they host Castlefields. They will hope that the lack of green knowledge for the visitors will help them but Castlefields will be wanting to improve on their opening away result at Windmill. Moseley CC will look to build on their great start but travel to Windmill who had a great opening home win of 9-1. Windmill will hope the lack of green knowledge for the visitors will help them match that result again. Royal Oak also won 9-1 first week at home, and will want more of the same as Great Barr visit. Great Barr had a good home win last week but only got 2 first week away at Three Magpies. Three Magpies will want to maintain their good home start with that win, and face Chadsmoor who had two solid results against Penn first two weeks, and will want to continue that start. Penn against Ward End Cons has been postponed.
Netherseal and Stretton Anglesey meet in the first all Derbyshire clash of the league. Stretton have enjoyed a disappointing start but hope green knowledge will be on their side for the only time this season. Captain Paul Chamberlain says “to be honest, we normally do well there but they are a decent side and we have not really started the season too well as a team. Both teams are aware that because of green knowledge, we are each other’s biggest danger at home, so it should be a good game.” Netherseal had a 7-3 home win first week and will want more of the same giving its their toughest game. The other new team Baldwin have also had a tough start and it won’t get much easier at Willenhall Nordley. Nordley came so close to winning at Wrockwardine last week so will be confident they can get a good home win. Broomfield won away the first week and may fancy a chance of another away win at Sutton Park like they did at Langley. But Sutton Park beat favourites Stretton Anglesey at home first week so will want to keep up that good start. Woodfield sit top of the league and play Langley who had a poor start to the season and will want to bounce back. Wrockwardine Wood just won at home last week and will want it not so close this time against Short Heath Libs. But Short Heath got a good three at Netherseal first week and will want another good away result before their home campaign start.
