Tanworth In Arden will look to repeat their shock win in Gameweek 11 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League as they travel to Greville. They won there 8-4 last season, but this didn’t prevent the Greville from winning the league. The Greville will be wary of their threat, while Tanworth will look to improve their away form so far this season. The George are now top of the league after beating Willenhall Nordley 8-2 on Saturday, Captain Elliot McGuinness continuing his unbeaten start being best winner 10, but Phil Clinton got MVP for winning 13. For the visitors Paul Bailey got MVP and best win for his 14 card. They travel to M&B Cheslyn Hay tonight looking to repeat West Brom FSCs five winners there last week, but M&B know they need better home results if they are to stay out of trouble at the bottom. West Brom FSC sit third after those 5 winners, and will look for a similar result at bottom side King George V. But King George got a great 3 at the Greville Arms last week, and know they have to get some big home wins to get off bottom spot. Moor Lane were whitewashed last week at the George and will not want to suffer the same fate at the Dudley Dell, who after their terrible start, have picked up extremely well and will fancy their chances of another big home win.
Chadsmoor will look to get off bottom spot as they entertain Moseley CC. They got a great 4 last week at Castlefields but still sit bottom, but do have a game in hand on Baddesley and other teams above them at least. Moseley CC got 3 at Castlefields on Saturday and will look for another similar result to keep them in the hunt for promotion. Baddesley have a tough trip to Three Magpies who have been doing well this season, and will need to improve on their poor away form to keep them away from relegation. Three Magpies know a good home win will keep them in second place. Royal Oak are top and will look to continue their excellent home form against Castlefields who have been struggling to get a side out away from home. Castlefields know they have to pick their results up to get out of trouble at the bottom. Ward End Cons entertain Great Barr after a good couple of weeks for them. They are just two points behind their opponents and four off second so will look for a good home win to keep them up there, while Great Barr know a few good away results could make the difference. Penn and Windmill are both up there too and meet each other in Wolverhampton. Penn are only 7 points off second and have a home game in hand, so sit pretty well in terms of promotion. Windmill though will have green knowledge and spokesman Daz Handley says “we know the green from playing here on Saturdays if it helps us. We will just try for every point.”
The top two meet as Woodfield host Stretton Anglesey in a clash that could determine who wins the league. Both teams have been very impressive and dominant this season, and are hot favourites to go up whatever the results over the next couple of weeks. Stretton captain Paul Chamberlain knows it will be a “difficult game but we’re playing well and are a close knit team. At the end of the day if we can get as many as points as Woodfield in the 2 games against them, I think we’ve a chance to win the league which has been our aim from the start.” 3rd placed Wrockwardine Wood will aim to take advantage of them clashing by getting a good home win over Baldwin, who will have not seen the green before. Baldwin though have found their feet in the league now after some good results so will hope to continue that. Sutton Park and Willenhall Nordley are chasing still and will want a good home win like last week as they face the bottom two, Short Heath Libs and Langley respectively. Both the bottom two know that their away form will have to improve if they are to be able to get into the money spots come the end of the season. Netherseal are another team chasing the top two and will look for a good home win over Broomfield, who were unlucky to get just one at Wrockwardine Wood last week, and could still get themselves in the reckoning too with a run of good results.
