Gameweek 16 Review – Division Two

Stretton & Woodfield Promoted, Race on for 3rd

Stretton Anglesey and Woodfield have been promoted from Division Two of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Stretton beat Wrockwardine Wood 9-1 with Neil Brown best winner and MVP 4, while Wrockwardine captain Martin Gaut was the winner 11 to earn him MVP. They are now 16 ahead of Woodfield after they got 3 at Willenhall Nordley. Claire Pugh was best winner and MVP for them after winning 8 while Steve Bodley was exactly the same for the home side, who are now 4 points off 3rd place. Netherseal sit level with Wrockwardine Wood in 3rd after getting two winners at Langley. Langley skipper Sarah Beaman commented on “another good strong home performance from Langley. As we have had a bit of rain recently, and we have all gotten used to our green being difficult due to it being quick, it sort of made the green a bit easier. With that in mind we still knew we had a tough game against Netherseal. Six winners at home is a good win. Let’s hope that we can continue our good home form and pick up a few points away in our final fixture.”Kris Norgrove was best winner 11 with Matt Beaman MVP winning 15. For the visitors it was Darren Staley and Richard Goldby who were their winners 11, with Darren getting MVP. Baldwin are just three points off 3rd now after beating Sutton Park 8-2. Chris Kington was best winner and MVP 3, while Daniel Green was likewise for the away side, after winning 5. Short Heath Libs continued their excellent form by defeating Broomfield 9-1. Captain Tony Rhodes said it was “another solid performance from us. A good win against a good team played in good spirit.” Kris Johnson was best winner 3, with Tony himself MVP for winning. Only winner for the visitors was John Wilson 20, which got him MVP.

Stretton Anglesey are 16 ahead of Woodfield, with both having been promoted. Craig Barker still leads Nick Newey on aggregate at top of the League Averages.
