Baddesley win away again, Windmill win well
Baddesley won away again in week 10 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Division One to all but seal promotion to the Premier Division. They won 9-3 at Belmont Services to please captain Tom Lea. “We went there expecting what was going to be a real tough game based on their home form and knowing it’s a tricky green, I would have been happy with 3 or 4 winners pre game. But the team have put on a real good performance and we’ve had 5 good winners the standout performance being from Mike Lynch (who was given MVP) who never seemed to be outside a foot with his bowls giving his opponent Rikki Higgs an almost impossible task to beat him. It was a great result overall giving us our 2nd away win of the season as we look to keep the pressure on those chasing us.” Ben Lynch was best winner 5, with the home’s side being Richard Staley to also earn him MVP. Windmill also extended their lead for 2nd place as they beat Woodfield 9-1. Stuart Gittings was best winner 7 and Glynn Storer MVP for winning 16. For the Woodies it was Scott Taylor who won 19 to earn MVP. Baldwin got 3 winners at Triplex with captain James Kernick leading the way 12, and Jack Newsome being MVP for winning 16. For the home side it was Andy Niblett best winner 9, and Brian Niblett MVP for winning 17. Langley enjoyed a good win over Victoria Park 6-4. Captain Sarah Beaman led the way winning 4 to also be MVP, and she commented “after a very difficult first half to the league and struggling to find some form, Langley produced a very good team performance. Three out of our four losers only just ducking out with good cards. Let’s hope we can build on this performance for the second half of the season.” Gordon Hawkins was best winner for the Park 8, with Pete Cookson getting MVP for winning 20. Hamstead beat Wrockwardine Wood 7-3 with Ben Harris best winner 8 and Marc Franks MVP for winning 10. Aaron King continued his good form being best winner and MVP 9.
Baddesley lead by 15 to Windmill, who are 13 ahead of Baldwin. Mike Lynch and Jordie Baddeley are 10 out of 10 still.
