West Brom FSCs Greg Smith won his fourth Midland Masters as he lived up to his hot favourite tag. He had a tough last couple of games though, only beating Mike Beer 17 in the final and Rich Lawson 18 in the Semi Finals. In the final he trailed 8-4 before leading 19-12, and held off a fightback to win 17. He had beaten Adam Stubbs 11, Pete Farmer 7, Reece Farr 16 after leading 15-5, and Kevin Neal 10. Aaron Tapper of M&B Cheslyn Hay reached the Quarter Finals after getting past Ian Brown 18, Tim Jordan 6 and Rachel Bennett 13 before losing out to Mike 16, Rachel having defeated Alan Slater 14 and Jackie Rutter 20. Reece had beaten Paul Williams 16 and Ben Lynch 15 to get to the last 16, Ben having got past Ashley Walton 18 first game. Darrell Handley and Bill Kinchin also reached the last 16, beating Greg Tatem 3 and Scott Harries 9 and Callum Briddon 10 and Kevin Hocknull 15 respectively, before losing out to Rich Lawson 14 and Mike Beer 17. Kevin got past Keith Hatzer 8 first round, while Stuart Gittings beat Phil Clapham 14, Ben Percival defeated Josh Towey 11, Cody Everitt got past Andrew Owen 19, Liam Dennis beat James Berrisford 13, Darren Carter defeated Jordan Millman 7 and Mick Lynch beat Kevin Keary 9 to all reach the second round. Chris Baker, Dave Hayward, Ian Brown, Paul Evans, Glynn Storer, Pete Cookson, Jack Newsome and Ryan Walters all lost first round.
