Week 11 Review – Division One

Boldmere all but seal promotion, Woodfield close gap

Boldmere Sports & Social all but sealed promotion in week 11 of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won 10-2 at neighbours Hamstead to move 13 points clear of third place. Captain Adam Weaver says it is an “excellent result for us on a tricky Hamstead green. We’ve had some great performances away from home this season and think we have been really unlucky to just duck out on a few occasions, so it’s great to finally get that away win on the board. It’s give us a bit of breathing room now at the top of the table but there is still work to do! I’ve no doubt the teams in behind are going to push us all the way.” Best winner was Marc Franks 8 with Steve Jones MVP for winning 17. Craig Dugdale won 18 and Richard Parkes 20 for the hosts, with the latter getting MVP. Woodfield closed the gap on 2nd placed Tanworth in Arden to 4 points with a 9-1 win over them. Rory Rollason was best winner and MVP 5, with Tanworth’s winner being Dave Wolverson 13, but Mark Gamsby got MVP for getting 20. Penn defeated Langley 7-3, with Jacob Ash starring with a rare 21-0 win in the league, earning him MVP. For Langley it was Darren Griffiths best winner 13 and Jonathan Blakeman MVP for winning 19.
