Week 15 Preview – Premier Division & Week 13 Preview – Division One

Premier Division

The Greville Arms will be looking to win the league this week as they entertain M&B Cheslyn Hay in week 15 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They just need to score one less than Stretton Anglesey, who are away to Moseley CC. M&B though need the points desperately to avoid being relegated as they sit just two points above bottom. Moseley CC are just four behind Stretton in second as they look for their highest ever finish in the league. Captain Grant Soller says “it will be a tough game against a strong Stretton team but we will be looking forward to the challenge and hopefully get a win against them. If we want to finish 2nd then we will need a convincing win.” Willenhall Nordley are just a point behind Moseley and could finish 2nd themselves, but will need a good home win over Triplex to try and do so. Triplex are another fighting to stay up so need the points themselves. Baldwin are currently in 5th but only 6 points above bottom place, so captain Jim Kernick knows they can’t afford any slipups, starting with taking on a team below them The George, who are only outside the relegation zone by two points “It’s an important game at the wrong (ish) end of the table where anyone on any given day can likely beat each other. We need to remain positive and our objective at the start of the season was to stay up and try and build a little more strength in depth which I believe we’ve done. At this stage of the season there’s nothing in it, literally 6 points between the bottom 6 and we’re in touching distance of safety. However we’re aware any slip ups at home in the next 2 rounds of fixtures could, and probably would be fatal!” West Brom FSC and Windmill are currently the bottom two, and meet this week in what could be the start of a pivotal two games between them both.

Week 15 Fixtures:

Greville Arms v M&B Cheslyn Hay

Baldwin v The George

Moseley CC v Stretton Anglesey

Willenhall Nordley v Triplex

West Brom FSC v Windmill

Division One

Boldmere Sports & Social Club will look to earn promotion in the penultimate week of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They need to better Woodfield’s score by two away at Victoria Park to go up in their first season in the league. Captain Adam Weaver says “it’s a green we’ve not seen before so we know it’s going to be tough, but we are looking forward to the challenge and hopefully can come away with a few points!” The Park could still get third from Woodfield, so know a good home win is needed to do this. Woodfield make the short journey over the A449 to Penn, knowing they need to win there to give themselves a chance of catching the top two. Skipper Nick Newey says “tonight sees us visit our near neighbours at Penn. Last year we went down by 55 shots and managed just 2 winners. We will endeavour to improve on that, but are fully aware that Penn will be seeking revenge after the away result with Woodfield earlier in the season. Games between our two teams are always good battles, played in the right way.” Penn are another team that could snatch third from Woodfield with a big win. Langley host Hamstead with both teams looking to avoid the wooden spoon in the division.

Week 13 Fixtures:
